REFLECTION

This class was honestly kinda wild, but in a good way. I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did, especially since I’ve never really worked with video or sound stuff before. One of the things I actually ended up liking a lot was making sound effects. At first I thought it’d be weird or boring, but it was actually really fun figuring out how to make sounds coming from a phone call or space. It also made me realize how much thought goes into audio in movies, even for small things like footsteps or doors creaking.

Premiere was something I had zero experience with, so I was kinda scared of it at first. The interface looked super confusing, but after a few exercises, it started making more sense. I liked the editing part more than I thought—especially when we got to play with timing and effects to make scenes feel more dramatic or funny. It was satisfying when stuff finally synced up properly.

If I had to pick a least favorite part, it’d probably be the visual effects section. I get why it’s useful, but personally I found it kinda frustrating. It was a lot of trial and error, and I kept messing up small things like masking or keyframes. I still got it done, but it wasn’t as enjoyable as the other parts.

The final short film was chaotic but honestly the best part. It was stressful trying to get everything done in time—planning, filming, editing—but once it came together, it felt really good to see the final product. I think this class taught me a lot, especially patience and how much work goes into creating even a short piece of media. Overall, it was way more hands-on than I expected, and I kinda liked that.
