TASK
Moving on from Project 1, I had to develop my design further based on the feedback I received. I added new props and changed a few things that improved my previous design such as the face mask, adding ornaments, symbols, and personal belongings of the rider.
1. Thumbnails
In here, it is mainly focused on showing how the props are attached together and on the saddle. Making this made me think a lot, and not just draw without meaning.

In here, I broke down the symbols ornaments, , mask variation, props, and how the harness attached to the face. I did variations of the mask to see which is better. To be honest, I like the one with the teeth on the sides, but it would break or hurt the creature when used in battles, so I scrapped that idea. For the last 2 symbols, I figured it was too clean looking for a raider, so I went with a more carved wood unsymmetrical look like the first one.

2.Value Studies
Then, I did my value studies with greys to determine each values. This was hard for me as I've never done it before, it turned out okay.
When coloring my design, I had to keep in mind of the material and the person riding it. I used a lot of browns since most of the raider's belongings were made from leather and metal. I also had to mix and match different colors of browns so they dont clash with each other. i made the first layer of the saddle more round based on the feedback, and changed the design of the mask as its more covered and realistic.
Finally, I add some lighting and overlays on top to show where the light is coming from.
4.Textures
During texturing, I collected a lot of pictures from google and turned them into black and white. Then, I paste it on top of my props and set the blending mode to either soft light or overlay. I made sure to use warp too, to make it more realistic. I searched for a lot of different leather textures and metal for each prop. Since this vehicle is used in battles, I also looked for ripped leathers and rusted metal textures to combine it together.
As for the final texturing result, I'm happy with how it came out to be. The textures made a lot of difference and depth into my vehicle, and It will definitely help me in my 3D process later on.

FEEDBACK
In Project 2, I did a lot of brainstorming and rethinking, and there were many times where I had to fix or change things because they didn’t make sense. I would have an idea, but after drawing it, I’d realize, “Wait, this doesn’t make sense,” which often led me to redo the whole thing. This happened quite a lot and is one of my weaknesses. Sometimes, things that are obvious to other people aren’t obvious to me because I get too focused on the drawing and stop thinking clearly. Even in the future, I’m sure I’ll notice problems that I don’t see right now, so I hope to get better at thinking through all the possibilities before jumping straight into making something. What I really enjoyed though, was texturing. This was my first time texturing in Photoshop, and I had a lot of fun with it. I realized how much texturing can make a design feel more alive and give it more depth. In the future, I hope to keep learning new things to improve my concept art and to slow down and think more before finalizing my designs.
