LECTURE
On week 6, Mr. Fauzi held an online meeting to teach us how to recolor pictures from black and white by using blending modes such as overlay and soft light to use on our next task.
TUTORIAL
PRACTICAL
EXERCISE 1:
Figure 2.1 First Attempt (28/10/24)
After retrying the second time, it came out way better. This time, i lowered down the opacity, recolored the lips, is extra careful when doing the edges, and colored the background.
STEPS
Figure 2.2 Final (31/10/24)
Blending modesHair: Soft light
Eyes: Soft light
Skin: Overlay
Shirt: Soft light
Background: Soft light
EXERCISE 2:
First I cropped both of the skin color and hair reference, then I used the quick selection tool to select and mask the hair. Using the refined edge tool, I cleaned the edge to make it neater. Next, i added a solid color with an eyedrop tool from the reference. I did the same with the skin and background. For the lips and eyebrows I used the brush method from Exercise 1.
Figure 2.3 Final Girl
In my next attempt, I decided to do obama and did the same steps that I did with the last girl. This time, however, It came out way neater and realistic.

REFLECTION
Through these exercises, I finally get to know how to turn black and white photos to colored ones using different methods. I always see in social media where people would color pictures from the 1960's to colored ones. Even though It's not perfect yet, this exercise was really fun and a new knowledge for me to gain. What i found hard was the coloring and neatness. I had to find the right skin color and coloring it closely to make it look as neat as possible. Other than that, it was pretty easy.
