LECTURES

In week 3, Mr. Hafiz gave us a tutorial on how to remove background using the tool lasso and pen tool. For objects with sharp objects, it's reccomended we use the pen tool. However, with complex elements that has curvy edges it's best to use object selection tool.

Layers are important to know how to use fo the arranging of elements and background, as well as to not affecting the other elements placed. This helps us to adjust, delete or placing them front and back so it becomes easier for uso work on.

PRACTICAL

STEPS

First i removed the background of the element i wanted using the object selection  since the shape is more complex.

Figure 1.1 Removing Background

Since this element has sharp edges, i used the pen tool to remove the background.

Next, i duplicated the building and mirror the element to create a one point perspective in the middle.

Finally, i added the grunge and black and white background, placed the fish in between the buildings, and the people walking element to create depth.

REFLECTION

Through this exercise, i got even more comfortable with using the platform Photoshop. It was definitely more easier than the traditional collage because instead of using scissors, i used tools such as lasso tool, pen tool, and object selection tool to cut the image out. Not only that, we don't have to glue and make a mess when creating this collage. Another difference is that we were given limited elements from Mr. Hafiz instead of searching for our own. This was okay though because through limited elements, we get to expand our brain more to be more creative.
