LECTURES
At first, i did not know how to create a colage. However, through the video that Mr.Fauzi told us to watch, I became more known to the basics such as golden ratio and rules of third. We were also taught that to create a good collage, it requires different sizes of elements (big, medium, small). Mr.Fauzi also showed us how through these basic compositions we can create a poster or logo that can attract people.

PROJECT 1A: COLLAGE DESIGN ELEMENTS
1. Choose and identify your collage's design elements to be cut out and compose it into your own concept & story.
1. Choose and identify your collage's design elements to be cut out and compose it into your own concept & story.
2. Pre compositing your collage's design elements into a composition.
PRACTICAL
Our first project was to create a collage. To save money, me and my friends went to Sunway Pyramid to buy some magazines and share it together. We bought 2 magazines, and then voted which elements each of us want to use.
With the first composition, i tried to create a jormungandr reference with the eel wrapping around the building and earth, creating a direction with the eel's eye to guide the viewer's eye.
Figure 1.1
Next, i put a red, saturated origami to make it pop up and added colorful pins so the background wouldn't be so empty.
Figure 1.2
However, i figured it looks too flat so i decided to make some changes. I added more variation of colors such as yellow and green. Since red is complementary to green, i put it next to each other. I also crumpled the origami to create noise and texture. Finally, i ripped out some newspaper and placed it on the corner of the paper and added little creatures to imply them riding the eel.
Figure 1.3 Final Composition 1
For the second composition, my concept is the main subject (the girl) , has a lot of random and mixed thoughts which are the elements that are behind her.
Figure 1.4
Since the background is empty, i placed the same red and green textured origami and newspaper piece. I also placed a string across the origami to add more elements in the collage.
Figure 1.5 Final Composition 2
For the third and last composition, i decided to go with black and pink (two vertical pink origami) and it surprisingly looks good. I also cut out purple rectangle shapes to be placed in the middle of the collage. Other decorations such as newspaper, bell, paragraph, and mountain were also added.

REFLECTION
Through this first project, I gained a lot of new knowledge in creating a collage. How to create it with basic compositions, and using our creative brain to create a collage with elements. What i like about this project is that we were given a lot of creative freedom. We were allowed to find our own elements and let our brain wander free. However, what i found difficult was combining the correct elements, colors, and compositions together for it to look good. Overall, this was a very fun project that i have not done before and would definitely try and improve in the future.
EVENT
Figure 2.1
After long discussions with the group, we came up with these sketches. The concept of it is being united through music. In this case, the sketch shows people from different countries wearing their traditional clothes while playing music and dancing with different traditional instruments.
Figure 2.2 Sketch
Since color pencils that was going to be provided in the event were too slow, we decided to purchase two crayons to speed up the process of our work. The image shown below is our group deciding which crayon to buy.
Figure 2.3
When we arrived at the event, it was actually quite intimidating as it was in the middle of the mall with lots of chairs and a big stage.
Figure 2.4
After 30 minutes of brainstorming, we finally execute our sketch into two A2 papers. What i found challenging was that everyone had different skills of drawing and speed which makes it quite stressful. Especially when the timer finally goes off and we had to stop drawing.
However, we managed to finish on time with some minor changes along the way. We had to scrap the background and color it half way instead of full color as we didn't have enough time.
Figure 2.5
To be honest, i was quite dissapointed with the results as the sketch was quite good but when we colored it, it wasn't what we expected.
After the competition, we decided to look at some of the graduate's artwork. There were a lot of amazing and cool designs that i took as an inspiration for the future.
Figure 2.7
Although we did not win, It was a lot of fun and would be a funny story to tell in the future. Through this competition, I get to have an experience to work with other people, and also get to see how others executed the theme "Unity in Diversity".
